John Dagys is a motorsports journalist who specializes in the coverage of sports car and endurance racing. For the past five years, he has traveled across the country, reporting on the American Le Mans Series and Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series for a variety of motorsports publications.
John got his start in motorsports in 2005 when he co-founded The-Paddock.net, a sports car racing news and features Web site. The ambitious project quickly grew to one of the leading independent outlets covering European and American sports car racing, and featured the work of over a dozen writers and photographers.
After a successful two and a half year stint as chief editor, John stepped away from The-Paddock.net in late 2007 to peruse other writing opportunities. He joined Motorsport.com as a writer and associate editor and spent the 2008 season covering events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona and the Twelve Hours of Sebring.
John also split his time reporting on the American Le Mans Series with Trackbytes.com, as well as doing freelance work for clients such as Michelin Motorsports, B-K Motorsports, Intersport Racing and Road Atlanta.
In 2009, John took up a new opportunity with SPEEDtv.com as its sports car racing reporter, primarily covering the American Le Mans Series. He graduated from Columbia College Chicago in May 2009, with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism - News Reporting and Writing and is a co-author of the 2009 American Le Mans Series Official Yearbook.
